Giving a generation hope

YD Gaming

Our Gaming Department at YD has been developing a 2D narrative platformer game called LUX and an evidence-based classroom resource designed to measure and enhance student wellbeing.

Lux will be released as part one—a chapter one—at the end of the year, with the intention of making two additional chapters.

The Happy House is a digital resource for Australian students planned for international release. While designed for all, it is especially beneficial for neurodiverse young people.

LUX

Lux provides the opportunity for people to think about the deeper things of life through a gaming context. The main character, Lou, discovers a broken lantern in her attic, a relic from her family in generations past. After fixing it, a flame appears, and she begins to learn of a man who used His light to destroy the darkness in the world. Long ago, He instructed His followers to build lanterns to have His light with them after He goes. When He makes a final, blindingly bright sacrifice, their lanterns get lit.

Lou becomes a “Light Bearer”. She uses the flame of her lantern to assist various people with souls of darkness. But her own inner darkness is chasing her, and she’s still learning what being a Light Bearer really means.

Emily

Emily George is our project manager for Youth Dimension’s Gaming Department. She has been developing ideas and stories around gaming since she was a teenager and loves when people get together around the gaming medium to discover more about themselves and the broader world around them.

We have initially released a demo version of LUX on steam and itch.io found here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2795150/Lux/?beta=0.
We’re hoping to update this by October to represent the game better, as a lot has changed regarding more engaging gameplay and level design in the 1 and a half years since this was released.
We plan to release chapter 1 in December 2025 and hope that the sales from that release will allow us to continue developing chapters 2 and 3.

We have a background artist, animator, programmer, and project manager working on it at the moment who are making a lot of progress and feel very positive about a December release!

The Happy House

The Happy House is a digital resource for Australian students planned for international release. While designed for all, it is especially beneficial for neurodiverse young people.

Built for use within classrooms, The Happy House features a virtual home with five themed rooms containing an activity, each designed around a different wellbeing construct. The program’s architecture accommodates a variety of student interests, such as outer space, pets, trains, etc. These themed adjustments allow the resource to facilitate deeper student engagement. A fun activity is conducted in each room, all rooted in wellbeing theory. These activities engage the students, enhance their emotional regulation, and educate them about key aspects of wellbeing and resilience.

Indiana

Indiana has a broad range of academic achievements in science, humanities and education. He is a practising teacher who oversees The Happy House project for Youth Dimension. With the student in mind, he has meticulously designed every element of The Happy House, from the carefully chosen colour palette to the opportunity for students to select areas of special interest.

This student-centric design ensures that the resource is engaging while teaching scientifically proven aspects of wellbeing to enhance resilience, giving the teaching staff confidence in its effectiveness.

The Happy House is the first of its kind in Australia. It assists teachers in moderating classroom behaviour while providing students with evidence-based, engaging content on wellbeing.

As participants engage with The Happy House, wellbeing data are immediately sent to the classroom teacher. This real-time feedback provides actionable insights into each participant's emotional state, empowering teachers to respond effectively to their students' needs.

Due for release 2026.
